The Executive Engineer (HR&A) of the West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited has already extended the waiting period for submission of EWS certificate upto 31st May, 2026.

From the documents annexed to the writ petition, it appears that the petitioner applied for obtaining EWS certificate on 31st January, 2026. Though the certificate meant for recruitment in the Central Government has been issued in favour of the petitioner, but the certificate required for recruitment within the State has not been issued. The issuing authority of the EWS certificate is the same. The documents relied upon by the petitioner are also the same.

In view of the above, the Additional District Magistrate, Paschim Medinipur, is directed to take a

decision on the petitioner's application for grant of EWS certificate on the basis of the documents submitted by him.

In the event any further document is required, the same shall be intimated to the petitioner forthwith.

The authority shall ensure that a decision whether to issue the EWS certificate or not shall positively be taken by 20th May, 2026.

If the authority decides to issue the EWS certificate, the same shall be issued within the said period.

The writ petition stands disposed of.

8.

All parties shall act on the basis of a server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance of all requisite formalities.
