Heard the learned Counsels appearing on behalf of the parties.

We have considered the statement of the victim recorded under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. She implicates the petitioner in raping her.

In view of the gravity of the offence and the prima facie involvement of the petitioner in the alleged crime, we are not inclined in granting bail to the petitioner.

Accordingly, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected.

We direct the trial court to expedite the trial and conclude the same at an early date without granting unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties.
