1. By this public interest litigation the petitioners seek for a direction upon the respondent/police to give adequate protection to the temple i.e. Sree Sree Khargeswar Shiv Mandir at Radhaballavpur Chak, Police Station-Panskura, Purba Medinipur.

2. It is alleged that the temple premises and public were attacked by certain extremists in the presence of the Pradhan and Upa Pradhan and, as a result of which, the temple could not be protected.

3. In this regard a complaint was lodged before the 5th respondent/police on 28th February, 2023 and alleging that no action has been initiated, the petitioners have filed this writ petition.

4. By efflux of time the complaint dated 28th February, 2023 has lost its efficacy.

5. Therefore, we direct the petitioners to file a fresh complaint before the 5th respondent which shall be considered by the 5th respondent and the matter be enquired and if there is any threat to any temple premises and if situation warrants, necessary protection be given to the temple and properties adjacent to the temple as also the persons who wish to offer prayers in the said temple.

6. With the above observations, the writ petition stands disposed of.
