The petitioner prays for bail.

Learned advocate for the petitioner submits that the police complaint was lodged 8 months after the incident. The police filed charge sheet and, therefore, further detention is not required. He submits that there is civil dispute in the nature of money lending involved.

Learned advocate for the State submits that the petitioner obtained loan from the father of the victim. The victim was called by the petitioner for the purpose of repayment of the loan, where the victim was ravished by a group of persons.

Considering the gravity of the offence and involvement of the petitioner as transpiring from the materials in the case diary including the statement recorded under Section 164 of the Cr.P.C., we are unable to grant bail to the petitioner.

The prayer for bail being CRM (DB) 1090 of 2022 is, thus, rejected.
