Mr. Indrajit Bhattacharjee ... for the petitioner Mr. Susanta Kumar Gangopadhyay ...for the respondent-authorities The grievance of the petitioner is that, despite carrying a valid succession certificate on the death of her brother, the postal-authorities are not paying the petitioner the matured amounts on the policies held by the deceased.

It is candidly submitted by learned counsel appearing for the petitioner that some of the money has already being released by the authorities; however, some balance amount is still being withheld on other policies.

Learned counsel appearing for the postalauthorities submits that the said authorities have duly sanctioned payment in respect of the other amounts. As such, the same will be settled in favour of the

petitioner in the event the petitioner approaches the authorities.

In view of such fair stand being taken by the postal-authorities, W.P.A. No. 5657 of 2020 along with C.A.N. 1 of 2020 (old No. C.A.N. 3527 of 2020) are disposed of by directing the petitioner to approach the respondent-authorities for settlement of the rest of the amounts due to her deceased brother, in her favour, on the strength of the succession certificate issued to the petitioner.

If so approached, the respondent-authorities shall release such amount immediately in favour of the petitioner, upon a preliminary scrutiny of the validity of the succession certificate.

There will be no order as to costs.

Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance of all necessary formalities.
