1. None appears on behalf of the State respondents.
2. Affidavit of service filed in Court today is taken on record.
3. The husband of the petitioner no. 1 and the father of the petitioner no. 2 an employee of the West Bengal State Transport Corporation was a victim of Covid-19.
4. The petitioners through their learned advocate made an application for grant of benefit in terms of the scheme adopted by the State for grant of financial assistance to a tune of rupees ten lakh to the family of the first line Covid warriors.
5. Mention of the said amount is available in the notification no. 2413-F (P2) dated 12th August, 2020 published by the Finance (Audit) Department, Government of West Bengal.
6. The request made by the petitioner is pending consideration till date.
7. Without entering into the merit of the claim of the petitioners at this stage, the instant writ petition is disposed of by directing the Additional Chief Secretary, Government of West Bengal, Finance (Audit) Department to take a decision on the prayer of the petitioners in accordance with the relevant scheme of the State at the earliest but positively within a period of eight weeks from the date of communication of this order.
8. If the petitioners are found eligible to receive any benefit in terms of any of the schemes of the Government, then the amount shall be disbursed to the bank account of the petitioners.
9. Learned advocate for the petitioners is directed to forward a copy of the representation along with all relevant documents to the aforesaid respondent at the time of communicating the order of the Court.
10. The writ petition stands disposed of.
11. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance of all requisite formalities.
