Mr. Kishore Mukherjee ..for the petitioner Mr. Amitava Chowdhuri Mr. Saurat Paul ...for the State Mr. Pratik Majumder ..for respondent nos. 1-6 This writ petition has been filed at the instance of two students of Rabindra Bharati University. It is the prayer of the petitioners that the university should be restrained from transferring the funds to a nonelected student body for organising an event, namely, "Grand Freshers" for welcoming a new batch of students of the university.

The university submits that a sum of Rs.700000/- (Rupees Seven Lakh only) was allotted to a committee constituted by the university to organise the programme. The fund was handed over to the said committee to make the necessary expenditure by inviting tenders. The programme has already been

organised and the committee has submitted the accounts before the university.

I am of the view that this writ petition has become infructuous as no order, as prayed for, can be passed in this writ petition at this stage.

Accordingly, WPA 8425 of 2024 is dismissed.
