Heard learned counsels for the parties.

The petitioner is in custody for about 196 days and prays for bail.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner's name transpired from the statement of the co accused and there is no evidence connecting him to the murder.

Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer and submits that a knife as well as ornaments belonging to the deceased were seized from the petitioner's house pursuant to his leading statement. The ornaments have been identified as that of the deceased by the complainant and the son of the deceased.

Considering the material on record prima facie connecting the petitioner to the alleged offence, prayer for bail is rejected at this stage.

The application for bail is thus disposed of.
