Affidavit-of-service filed on behalf of the petitioner is taken on record.

It is submitted on behalf of the petitioner that a complaint was lodged before the concerned police authority by the petitioner on 14th January, 2026 against the private respondents concerning an incident alleged to have taken place on 14th January, 2026. It is alleged on behalf of the petitioner that petitioner and her daughter were physically and sexually assaulted which prompted the petitioner to lodge said complaint on 14th January, 2026.

Prayer is made in this writ petition seeking direction upon the concerned police authorities for taking steps based on such complaint and to provide protection.

Private respondents are represented by learned advocate who has disputed the submission made on behalf of the petitioner. It is contended on behalf of the private respondents that the allegation which was made against the private respondents is not correct.

Learned advocate representing the State respondents has filed a communication dated 7th April, 2026 of Officer-in-Charge, Memari Police Station, Purba Bardhaman and same is taken on record. Copies of the said communication dated 7th April, 2026 are made over to the learned advocates representing the petitioner and the private respondents.

It is disclosed in the communication dated 7th April, 2026 that based on the complaint lodged by the petitioner on 14th January, 2026, FIR was registered and a criminal prosecution being Memari P.S. Case No.263 of 2026 dated 6th April, 2026 was initiated under certain provisions of BNS, 2023.

In view of steps taken by the concerned police authority, at this stage, it appears grievance of the petitioner relating to in-action of the concerned police authorities after complaint lodged by her, is redressed.

However, Officer-in-Charge, Memari Police Station, Purba Bardhaman being respondent no.5 is directed to provide assistance to the petitioner, in the event, situation arises in future.

In addition thereto concerned police authorities are directed to maintain peace and tranquility at the locale.

10. With the above directions, writ petition stands disposed of.

11. Urgent photostat certified copy of the order, if applied for, be given to the parties upon usual undertakings. (SAUGATA BHATTACHARYYA, J.)
