In this Public Interest Litigation (PIL) the petitioner has prayed for issuance of a writ of mandamus to the State to celebrate 2nd of July as Public/Gazetted holiday in the State in honour of the martyrdom of Nawab Siraj-Ud-Daulah.

No statutory provision or law could be shown for the purpose of issuance of such writ of mandamus to the State. It is within the province of the State to take any such decision and no writ of mandamus can be issued for the said purpose.

The PIL is misconceived and accordingly dismissed.
