Mr. Mrityunjoy Chatterjee, Mr. Tusar Hazra ...for Private Respondents 13-05-2025 AKG Ct. 15 Let the report filed by the Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation Limited (CESC) be taken on record. From the contents of the report, it appears that for effecting the electricity connection at the premises in question, CESC has quoted an amount of ₹1,08,609. It is further indicated in the report that the electricity connection is proposed to be effected through a common passage. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that petitioner no. 1 is willing to pay the amount as quoted by CESC.

Learned counsel appearing for respondent nos. 5 to 11, however, expresses apprehension that, in the process of providing the electricity connection, electric poles may be installed on plots currently occupied by them. Such apprehension does not appear to be justified, as CESC has proposed that the electricity line shall be routed

through the common passage.

In view of the above, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction upon CESC to effect the electricity connection at the premises of petitioner no. 1 within a period of three weeks from the date of this order, subject to the petitioner's compliance with any additional formalities, if required. The Officer-in-Charge of Sankrail Police Station is directed to render necessary assistance to the officials of CESC for implementation of this order. The cost of such police assistance shall be borne by petitioner no. 1. This Court has not adjudicated upon the claim of petitioner no. 2. However, CESC shall be at liberty to consider his application for electricity connection in accordance with law.

Accordingly, WPA 7878 of 2025 stands disposed of. Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
