This is the fifth application of the petitioner praying for bail. His prayer was rejected earlier by Coordinate Benches on four occasions, the last of which was on May 15, 2020. The petitioner says that he has been in custody for about seven years. There has been no significant progress in the trial.

Learned Advocate for the State points out that out of 14 witnesses, 9 have already been examined. The next date fixed for further examination of witnesses is August 31, 2021. In view of the material in the case diary, which prima facie incriminates the petitioner, and also in view of the earlier

four rejections of his prayer for bail, we are not inclined to allow this application.

C.R.M. No.3143 of 2021 is, accordingly, dismissed. However, in view of the very lengthy detention of the petitioner, we expect that the learned Trial Court will bring the trial to its logical conclusion at the earliest and preferably within a period of one year from date.
