The petitioner seeks a domestic electricity connection for his residence. It is alleged that, despite depositing the quoted amount, WBSEDCL has failed to effect the connection.

Learned counsel for WBSEDCL, however, submits that the connection could not be provided due to resistance from respondent nos. 4 and 5, who claim to be the owners of the relevant property. It is further submitted that an objection from the said respondents has also been received by WBSEDCL. Respondent no. 4 has refused the service, and respondent no. 5 is unrepresented despite service. The petitioner's settled possession with respect to the relevant property is not in dispute.

In view of the above, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to WBSEDCL to provide the electricity connection to the petitioner's premises within a period of one month from the date of this order, subject to the petitioner's compliance with all necessary formalities.

The Officer-in-Charge of Jagacha Police Station is directed to render necessary assistance to the officials of WBSEDCL to effect the connection, the cost of which shall be borne by the petitioner.

Accordingly, WPA 8053 of 2025 is disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the learned advocates for the parties on usual undertakings.
