Learned counsel for the petitioners restricts the prayer of the writ petitioners to the prayer for a direction on the respondent-authorities to conduct the elections of the Aniya Samabay Krishi Unnayan Samity Limited expeditiously.

Learned counsel appearing for the respondent no. 2, that is, the West Bengal Co-operative Election Commission, in his usual fairness, submits that in view of the large number of members of the Society, about six months would be a reasonable period for concluding the elections, more so, since elections have to be held in respect of several zones as well.

Accordingly, WPA No. 7707 of 2022 is disposed of by directing the respondent no. 2, the West Bengal Co-operative Election Commission, Cooperation Directorate, to conclude the elections of the Aniya Samabay Krishin Unnayan Samity Limited in accordance with law, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within November 4, 2022.

There will be no order as to costs.

Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
