The present writ application has been preferred being aggrieved by the delay in disposal of the certificate proceeding in Certificate Case No. CC/278/Cert/Bkp under Section 8, the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972. From the documents and annexures and on hearing the parties it appears that the last action taken by the Certificate Officer, Barrackpore, North 24 Parganas was on 12.02.2018 and since then there has been no progress in the certificate proceeding.

Considering the said fact and on hearing the parties, the writ application is disposed of with the direction that the District Magistrate, North 24 Parganas shall ensure that the Certificate Officer concludes the certificate proceeding in the Certificate Case No.

CC/278/Cert/Bkp under Section 8, the Payment of

Gratuity Act, 1972, within a period of 60 (sixty) days from the date of this order.

Accordingly, WPA 8504 of 2025 stands disposed of.

Let a copy of this order be sent to the District Magistrate, North 24 Parganas for immediate compliance. Urgent photostat certified copies of this order may be delivered to the learned Advocates for the parties, if applied for, upon compliance of all formalities. (Shampa Dutt (Paul), J.)
