Learned counsel for the petitioner contends that the petitioner has sought for electricity supply, but the same has not yet been given by the CESC Limited.

Learned counsel appearing for the CESC Limited, by placing reliance on the report and annexed photographs filed by the CESC Limited, submits that there are eleven previous applications for commercial connections pending in respect of the same property. However, such connections could not be given because of the technical difficulty and consequential electrical hazard, if multiple commercial establishments are

connected with the intermingling of the complex wiring existing in the meter room at present. That apart, it is submitted that an inspection of the godown revealed that there was a previous electrical wiring and a switchboard inside the godown of the petitioner.

Be that as it may, on instruction, learned counsel for the CESC Limited submits that there is no difficulty on the part of the CESC Limited to give a block meter and connections from the same to the applicants therefrom, provided a minimum 6 kw is applied for jointly by the said applicants.

That apart, other formalities are also to be complied with by the applicants. On instruction, it is further submitted by learned counsel for the CESC Limited that a block meter cannot be given in the individual name of a single person.

In such view of the matter, WPA No. 8222 of 2023 is disposed of by granting liberty to the petitioner to apply jointly with other applicants, for taking a block meter at the property-in-question. If such an application is made jointly by the petitioner and other proposed consumers and the said applicants fulfill the modalities of law and Regulations, then, subject to compliance of all

formalities by the applicants, the CESC Limited shall give such connection to the petitioner and the other applicants as expeditiously as possible, preferably within three weeks from the date of compliance of all formalities by the joint applicants.

There will be no order as to costs.

Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
