Petitioner is aggrieved by the fact that there is hardly been any progress in connection with Chandipur PS Case No. 291/2023, although the same was registered on 11.08.2023.

The report which has been submitted on behalf of the State is presumably of the year 2024. The steps which have been taken prima facie reflect that the police authorities at the relevant stage were proceeding with the investigation. However, having regard to the report so submitted, no clear picture is revealed as to whether the investigation till date has been concluded.

Accordingly, I direct the petitioner to approach the jurisdictional Magistrate in charge of Chandipur Police Station Case No. 291/2023 and in

case the report under Section 173 Cr.P.C. has not been submitted the learned Magistrate would call for a report regarding the progress of the investigation and assess the necessary orders to be passed. In the alternative, if already the report under Section 173 Cr.P.C. has been submitted before the learned Magistrate, learned Magistrate would notify the defacto complainant as to whether she is satisfied regarding the course of steps taken.

In case any application is taken out under the relevant provisions of Witness Protection Scheme, 2018, learned Magistrate would assess regarding the threat perception and thereafter pass necessary directions as he deems fit and proper. With the aforesaid observations WPA 8948 of 2024 is disposed of.

Report so submitted be kept with the record.
