The petitioner's claim relates to arrear salary from March, 2020-July, 2020 and unpaid remuneration and service benefits from 2005-20, while the petitioner served as a Special Political/Business Correspondent in the Dainik Statesman.

Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner resigned from service in September, 2020 and thereafter, approached the Labour Commissioner and other State respondents by way of a representation dated 26th March, 2021 but no steps have been taken by the State respondents since then.

Some of the respondents are represented.

After hearing learned counsel, this Court is of the view that the writ petition can be disposed of with a direction on the Labour Commissioner, Labour Department, Government of West Bengal being the respondent no. 2, to consider the representation made by the petitioner on 26th March, 2021 and dispose of the same by passing a reasoned order within a period of four weeks from date after hearing all the necessary parties including the petitioner. A copy of the reasoned order shall be made available to the petitioner within a week from the date of passing such order.

WPA 9410 of 2021 is disposed of in terms of the above.
