The principal grievance of the writ petitioners in this writ petition was that the police authorities had not been taking action on the petitioners' requests and complaint.

Although no affidavit-in-opposition has been filed by the respondent/State authorities yet today when the matter is taken up, the learned advocate appearing for the State authority hands up a report prepared by the Inspector in-Charge, New Town Police Station, wherefrom it appears that upon the writ petitioners' complaint a case being New Town P.S. Case No.496 of 2018 dated November 24, 2018 has been initiated against the respondent no.7 under Sections 467/468/471/420 of the Indian Penal Code. The report also reveals that the respondent no.7 i.e. Sri Raju Mahanta had been arrested on August 18, 2019

and had been remanded to police custody. The report further reveals that all relevant evidence have been collected during investigation and that upon completion of investigation a charge-sheet no.379 of 2019 dated August 28, 2019 has been submitted against the respondent no.7. The report also reveals that after November 27, 2019 New Town Police Station was trifurcated leading to the creation of Eco Park Police Station and Technocity Police Station and that the property which forms the bone of contention between the writ petitioners and the private respondents falls within the jurisdiction of Eco Park Police Station. The aforesaid report is taken on record.

The writ petitioners submit that even at present the writ petitioners are receiving threats to life and liberty.

In view of the fact that the respondent police authorities have already taken action on the basis of the petitioners' complaint, no further order need be passed on this writ petition.

However, as regards the petitioners' grievance that threats are being issued to them, it may be recorded that the petitioners shall be free to approach the jurisdictional police with request to take appropriate steps in accordance with law and if such request is made, the jurisdictional police authorities shall take appropriate steps in accordance with law to

ensure that life and liberty of the petitioners are protected and there is peace in the relevant locality. With the aforesaid observations, the writ petition being WPA 7417 of 2019 stands disposed of.
