Affidavit of Service filed by the petitioner in Court today is taken on record.

The grievance of the petitioner is that the complaint lodged against the private respondents alleging forgery is not being properly investigated by the police.

The petitioner relies upon the report prepared by the International Forensic Science Department in support of the submission that signature in the deed of gift of the donor is a forged one.

Prayer has been made to direct the police to take proper steps for seizing the original deed of gift and to obtain a report from the forensic laboratory to ascertain the genuinity of the signature affixed thereat. Learned advocate representing the private respondents submits, upon instruction, that the original deed of gift has already been seized by the police.

Learned Senior Counsel representing the State respondents relies upon the instruction forwarded by the Inspector-in-Charge, Haringhata Police Station signed on 18th April, 2024 which mentions that the concerned documents have been seized under proper seizure list and the exhibits have been sent to the Director QDEB, CID, West Bengal to verify the veracity of the alleged signatures. The case is still under investigation.

In view of the above the instant writ petition is disposed of by directing the police to take proper steps to investigate the matter in accordance with law and conclude the same at the earliest.
