Ms. Rituparna Maitra ... for the W.B.S.E.D.C.L. CAN 1 of 2020 (old CAN No.5063 of 2020) is disposed of by taking up the writ petition for consideration.

Petitioner seeks electric supply.

Learned Advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that, there subsists an interim order passed by the Civil Court restraining the defendant of the suit from preventing enjoyment of electric supply by the petitioner. Despite the same, the private respondents are preventing the authorities from effecting electric supply to the petitioner. He seeks police protection.

Learned Advocate appearing for the electricity company submits that, upon the petitioner constructing the meter board and complying with other requisites, the electricity company will provide electric supply to the petitioner.

Since the petitioner apprehends law and order

problem, upon the petitioner trying to make a construction of a meter room and electricity company trying to grant electricity to the petitioner, it would be appropriate to direct the Officer-in-Charge of the local police station to ensure that, no breach of peace occurs at the locale when the petitioner constructs a meter room for the purpose of obtaining electricity supply and the electricity company provides electricity to the petitioner. Upon the petitioner complying with the requisitions of the electricity company and paying the costs, charges and expenses in respect thereof and complying with the formalities, the electricity company will provide electricity supply to the petitioner within 48 hours thereof.

W.P.A. No.6435 of 2020 is disposed of.

No order as to costs.
