Learned advocate appearing for the petitioners submits that petitioners are in custody for more than 1 year and 7 months and the earlier directions of this Court reflect that there was a direction to complete the prosecution witnesses by 31st March, 2026. In the meantime, there were issues relating to administrative assignments upon the judicial officers, as such, the trial could not be completed. However, submission of the learned Advocate for the State as also the report reflects that the case is at the advanced stage and the first investigating officer is being examined by the prosecution. Taking into account the overall circumstances and the fact that the case is at the advanced stage, I am not inclined to

release the petitioner on bail. However, learned Trial Court would put in efforts so that the examination of the accused under Section 313 of the Cr.P.C. is completed by 30th June, 2026.

With the aforesaid observations CRM (NDPS) 721 of 2026 is dismissed at this stage.

Report submitted by the State be kept with the record. All parties shall act in terms of server copy of the order downloaded from the official website of this Court. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
