Pursuant to an employment notification for appointment of Associate Professor by Jadavpur University, the petitioner applied for being appointed as such. She is the only short-listed candidate in the OBCB category. Jadavpur University on March 8, 2019 published a list showing the name of the petitioner in serial no. 1 in respect of the OBC-B category.

Since thereafter time and again the University requested the petitioner to forward all the necessary documents in support of her research and experience, which the petitioner has diligently forwarded along with

the supporting documents to the University. The selection is yet to be concluded by the University. The petitioner relies upon the guidelines for Recruitment of Faculty in Universities, Colleges and Institutions deemed to be Universities published by the University Grants Commission.

The selection procedure mentioned in the guidelines clearly lays down that the Higher Education Institutions should initiate and complete the selection process within a period of six months in terms of the schedule given thereunder. The period as mentioned in the time frame for recruitment is long over.

In view of the above, the instant writ petition is disposed of by directing the Jadavpur University to conclude the selection process strictly in accordance with law, at the earliest, but positively within a period of four weeks from the date of communication of a copy of this order.

Affidavit-of-service filed in Court today is taken on record.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties after completion of all legal formalities.
