Affidavit of service filed on behalf of the petitioner be kept with the record.

In spite of service, none appears on behalf of the Staterespondents. The petitioner was a Librarian of the Library under the Department of Mass Education Extension & Library Services, on attaining the age of superannuation, she had retired from her said service on December 31, 2020.

The Pension Payment Order of the petitioner was issued on July 06, 2022, in pursuance whereof, she had received the gratuity and the arrear pension on July 14, 2022. The petitioner is praying interest on the arrear pension and gratuity for the delayed payment.

The law is now well-settled that for such delay in payment of pension and gratuity, the petitioner is entitled to interest. The respondents, the concerned Treasury Officer in particular, therefore, are directed to pay interest @ 8% per annum on the arrear amount of pension and gratuity from the date of retirement of the petitioner till the date of such payment. The payment as directed above shall be made within the period of eight weeks from the date of communication of this order.

WPA 8899 of 2025 is disposed of without any order as to costs.
