Mr. Avishek Sinha Ms. Ankita Pal ... for the State Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner was not named in the FIR. The allegation is that over local puja celebration a fight broke out between two groups of members of the club. When the police came, they were attacked. The petitioner was not even there at the time of occurrence.

Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer for anticipatory bail, relies on the case diary and submits that at least four independent witnesses have taken the name of the petitioner as one of the assailants. The mob attacked the police and damaged their vehicles. At least six police officers

received injuries including on the head. Several other coaccused have been arrested in this case. Considering the incriminating materials available in the case diary, I am not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

The application for anticipatory bail is, thus, rejected. (Jay Sengupta, J.)
