CAN 1 of 2020 (Old No. CAN 5198 of 2020) is disposed of by taking up the writ petition for consideration.

Petitioner seeks an electricity connection.

Learned Advocate appearing for the CESC authorities submits that there is an outstanding in excess of Rs.52,000/- in respect of the earlier meter in which the beneficiary was the writ petitioner.

Learned Advocate appearing for the petitioner contends that the earlier meter was installed by the landlord. There are five tenants. However, the petitioner is ready and willing to pay the entire amount outstanding in respect of such meter.

Under such circumstances, since the petitioner is ready and willing to pay for the outstanding in respect of

the earlier meter, CESC authorities will proceed to grant electricity connection to the petitioner within seven days from the date of receipt of the payment in respect of the earlier meter as also the costs, charges and expenses for the grant of a new meter in the name of the petitioner. W.P. 6505 (W) of 2020 is disposed of accordingly. (Debangsu Basak, J.)
