By filing this writ petition, the petitioners prayed that the investigation in respect of Bongaon Police Station Case No. 179 of 2014 dated 09.03.2014, be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation.

The writ petition was filed in March 2015. More than eight years have passed. We are told that not only the trial has started, twelve witnesses including the present petitioners have been examined. In fact, examination of the petitioner no. 2 is in progress.

In view of the above, we are of the opinion that no meaningful purpose will be served by keeping this writ petition pending. Trial has started and has progressed substantially after due investigation, filing of charge sheet and framing of charges.

Accordingly, this writ petition stands disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order be supplied to the parties, if applied for, as early as possible. (Apurba Sinha Ray, J.) (Arijit Banerjee, J.)
