Mr. Subir Ganguly ..for the State Liberty is granted to the petitioner to carry out the necessary correction in the cause title of this application. The grievance of the petitioner is that G.R. Case No. 476 of 2020, arising out of Baguiati P.S. Case No. 16 of 2020 under Sections 420, 406, 120B, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, has been pending before the learned Judicial Magistrate, 1st Court, Barasat, for a considerable period of time. The petitioner is the de facto complainant in the said case and seeks its expeditious disposal.

A perusal of the order sheets reveals that the matter was last taken up for hearing on July 28, 2025, by the learned Magistrate, and the next date has been fixed on May 14, 2027, resulting in a gap of nearly two years. It further appears that ten witnesses remain to be examined.

Considering that the case has remained pending before the learned Magistrate for approximately three years, this revisional

application is disposed of with a direction upon the learned Magistrate in the Court below to make every endeavour to conclude the trial and dispose of the case as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of eighteen months from the date of communication of this order.

In view of the aforesaid, CRR 1691 of 2026 is disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the learned advocates for the parties on usual undertakings.
