The petitioner is in custody for more than five years and prays for bail. Learned advocate for the petitioner submits that trial is yet to conclude. The petitioners' further custody is not required.

Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer and submits that the prosecution shall examine only one more witness who is the forensic expert. Evidence of the investigating officer has also been concluded.

On merits, bail prayer of the petitioners was turned down by this Court on earlier occasion. In an earlier order dated 9th October, 2023, this Court directed the learned Trial Court to conclude the trial at an early date, preferably within a year from the next date of recording of evidence. It appears that trial has progressed pursuant to the said order and is at its fag end. In view of the above, prayer for bail is rejected at this stage.

However, the learned Trial Court is further directed to expedite the trial without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties in the light of the submission made on behalf of the State.

Accordingly, the application for bail is disposed of. Case diary be returned.
