Mr. Somnath Naskar ...for the State respondents By an order dated July 13, 2023, the State authorities were requested to reappraise the application for compassionate appointment and to submit a report.

Learned Senior Advocate appearing for the State makes over a writing dated August 7, 2023 by which, the Director of Health Services found the writ eligible for compassionate appointment to the post of Group-D (GDA).

The writ petition is directed against an order dated February 20, 2018 passed by the West Bengal Administrative Tribunal in O.A.422 of 2016 by which, the prayer for compassionate appointment of the writ petitioner was negated.

In view of the writing dated August 7, 2023, nothing further remains in the present writ petition.

The impugned order dated February 20, 2018 passed by the West Bengal Administrative Tribunal is set aside.

The authorities will proceed to grant compassionate appointment to the writ petitioner in terms of the writing dated August 7, 2023 preferably within a period of four weeks from date.

WP.ST 33 of 2018 along with connected applications are disposed of accordingly without any order as to costs.
