The writ petitioner seeks a direction upon the police to impound certain insurance policies that have been paid to a named nominee. The petitioner claims that she is the actual beneficiary of the insurance policy.

Since it is well established that a nominee of an insurance policy is at best a trustee and is liable to any lawful beneficiary of the proceeds of the policy, the remedy of the petitioner is to establish her rights before an appropriate civil or statutory forum. With the aforesaid observations, the writ petition is disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.
