The petitioner complains of police inaction on the ground that a report was lodged by the petitioner's father-in-law with the Ranaghat Police Station on 11th February, 2020, complaining that the petitioner's husband is missing but no step in terms of such complaint has been taken by the police authorities as yet except making a General Diary Entry (GDE). Considering that a lady aged only about 26 years in helpless condition has approached this Court with a prayer for proper investigation regarding the missing complaint made by her father-in-law reporting that the petitioner's husband is missing, I direct the Officer-in-Charge, Ranaghat Police Station, being the respondent no.2, to take all steps to enquire and investigate into the matter relating to the missing complaint made on 11th February, 2020, being General Diary Entry (GDE) No.527 dated 11.02.2020
at Ranaghat Police Station. The Officer-in-Charge, Ranaghat Police Station shall be free to take assistance of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), West Bengal, if he feels so necessary for proper coordination of the investigation. The CID, West Bengal, if approached, shall render all assistance. The Superintendent of Police, Nadia, being the respondent no.3, shall monitor the matter on a periodic basis so that the investigation is conducted in a fair, transparent and expeditious manner. Nothing further remains to be adjudicated in this writ petition. The same is disposed of accordingly without any order as to costs.
Since I have not called for any affidavits, the allegations made in the writ petition are deemed to have not been admitted by the respondents.
