Petitioner has prayed for bail on the ground of delay in trial. He is in custody for four years.

Learned Advocate for the State submits bail prayer of co-accused was turned down by this Court in January, 2024. Three witnesses have been examined. Examination of PW 4 is in progress.

We have considered the materials on record. Large volume of Fake Indian Currency Notes (for shot FICNs) was recovered from petitioner. Delay in the matter was engineered by the defence by seeking repeated adjournments. Presiding Officer was also absent for a period of time. 4.

Under such circumstances, bail prayer of co-accused Jina Rongmei was turned down by this Court in January, 2024. There is no change in circumstance since then. six months from the next date fixed for recording evidence subject to co-operation by defence and systemic reasons. 5.

Hence, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.

Accordingly, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected.

Trial court is directed to expedite the trial in light of the assurance given by the prosecution.
