The petitioner is in custody for 9 months and prays for bail. Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer and submits that besides sufficient incriminating material having transpired against the petitioner, he absconded for about twelve years after his prayer for anticipatory bail was rejected.

It appears that the petitioner absconded for a protracted period of time for which trial had to be split. There is also material connecting him to the alleged offence.

Considering the material on record as well as the conduct of the petitioner, prayer for bail is rejected at this stage. Learned trial Court is directed to expedite the trial without grating any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties. The application for bail is disposed of.
