The Inspector In Charge of the New Town Police Station has submitted a report dated 3rd July, 2023. It appears that the accused Pallab Sarkar, has not only confessed in course of interrogation but has also been remanded into judicial custody after initial seven days of PC.

A large number of bank accounts of the accused with the HDFC Bank and State Bank of India, Khidirpur and Baghajatin Branch have been traced. The said banks and any other bank, into which the funds from the victims of the "bar license scam" have traveled, shall remain frozen. The concerned bank shall give a complete statement of accounts from the opening of the account till date, to the Investigating Officer. This court appreciates the role and investigation of the New Town Police Station in this matter.

This court had enquired of the Counsel for the State as to whether it would be more appropriate for the
CID to take over the investigation. Counsel for the State has left the matter to the discretion of the Court. 4.
This court is of the view and that notwithstanding the very sincere investigation already conducted by the New Town Police Station, it would be in the fitness of things that the investigation to the subject FIR No. 121 of 2023 dated 20th April, 2023 be transferred to the CID, West Bengal. The CID is already conducting similar investigation.

The CID shall conduct the investigation in right earnest as diligently and sincerely. The New Town Police Station shall transfer the entire case diary to the CID, West Bengal.

It is expected that the investigation be completed by the CID within two months from date.

The writ petition stands disposed of. The report of the New Town Police Station be kept with the records. 8.
All parties are directed to act on a server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
