The petitioners challenge an order dated 16th May 2022 communicated on 18th May 2022. By the said order the I.C., Bidhannagar East Police Station has declined to permit the petitioners to stage a demonstration outside the Bidyut Bhawan against the management of WBSEDCL.

The petitioners contend that the demonstration is in aid of seeking employment benefits. This Court is of the view that the impugned order does not call for any interference. However, the petitioners shall be at liberty to apply afresh in accordance with law by indicating more particulars of their proposed demonstration and the I.C. Bidhannagar East Police Station shall take steps to deal with the same strictly in accordance with applicable rules and the law in this regard.

With the aforesaid observation, the writ petition shall stand disposed of.

There shall be no order as to costs.
