Learned lawyer for the State opposes the prayer for bail. We have considered materials on record. Statements of witnesses disclose prima faice involvement of the petitioner in the alleged murder.

In view of the gravity of the offence and the incriminating materials on record, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.

Accordingly, the prayer for bail is rejected. However keeping in mind the protracted period of detention suffered by the petitioner, we direct the trial court to conclude the trial at an early date preferably within one year from the next date fixed for recording evidence without granting adjournments to either of the parties.
