1. By this public interest litigation the petitioners allege that certain officers who are holding the post in the State Government for more than five years have been assigned election duty which, according to the petitioners, is contrary to the notification issued by the Election Commission of India.

2. In this regard, a representation has been submitted.

3. The writ petition is disposed of by directing the petitioners to pursue the representation before the District Election Officer and the District Magistrate, South 24-Parganas and if the petitioners appear before the authority, the authority shall consider the representation and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law as expeditiously as possible.
