Mr. Rana Mukherjee Ms. S. Das Ms. Debjani Sahu ...for the State The petitioner is the husband of the victim lady who is said to have committed suicide within two months of her marriage. The petitioner is in custody for about 389 days and renews his prayer for bail after his earlier prayer of bail was rejected by a Co-ordinate Bench of this Court on 20.11.2020 in CRM No. 9298 of 2020.

It is submitted on behalf of the petitioner that there is no material connecting him to the death of his wife and his further detention is not required.

The State opposes the prayer for bail and refers to various statements of witnesses in the case diary.

We have considered the material in the case diary. There are several statements which directly implicate the petitioner. The allegations against him are serious in nature.

Having considered the material in the case diary as well as the nature and gravity of the offence, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner at this stage.

The application for bail being C.R.M. 3877 of 2021 is, accordingly, rejected.

However, we request the learned Trial Court to bring the trial to its logical conclusion as soon as the business of the Court may permit.
