It is alleged that the petitioner's application (Annexure P6, p.33) dated April 2, 2024 seeking renewal of gun licence is pending consideration since December 2019.

Without entering into the reasons for non-renewal of the licence at this stage, as it appears that no decision has been communicated to the petitioner with regard to his prayer, accordingly, the instant writ petition is disposed of by directing the District Magistrate, South 24 Parganas to consider the petitioner's representation for renewal of his gun licence strictly in accordance with law at the earliest, but positively within a period of four weeks from the date of communication of this order. A reasoned order shall be passed and communicated to the petitioner immediately thereafter.
