The Inspector-in-charge, Haringhata Police Station has filed a report, which is taken on record. It appears from the said report that FIR No. 95 of 2022 dated 05.04.2022 under Sections 306/107 of the Indian Penal Code was registered. It further appears that investigation has been substantially completed and the police are awaiting the report of the Forensic Science Laboratory from the Director, Forensic Science Laboratory, Kolkata.

A charge-sheet being C.S. No. 229 of 2022 dated 15th July, 2022 has been filed. The last reminder to the Director, Forensic Science Laboratory, Kolkata was sent on 24th January, 2023 by the Haringhata Police Station.

This Court notes that the Director, Forensic Science Laboratory, Kolkata has been inordinately delaying the report.

In a large number of cases, this Court has found that the reports of the sample sent from the year 2021

are pending disposal with the Director, Forensic Science Laboratory, Kolkata.

The Director, Forensic Science Laboratory, Kolkata shall submit a report to the Haringhata Police Station in connection with the subject FIR mandatorily and positively within a month from the date of receipt of this order.

This Court is satisfied with the investigation conducted by Haringhata Police Station as of now. With the aforesaid directions, the instant writ petition shall stand disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.
