Heard learned counsels for the parties.

It is contended on behalf of the petitioners that the land of the petitioners was utilized by the State respondents for reconstruction of ring bandh which was affected due to the AILA in the Sunderban area. But the said land was neither acquired nor any compensation paid for the same.

Learned counsel for the petitioners draws the attention of this Court to an assessment made by the State authorities in the year 2019 assessing the value of the land in question for direct purchase of the same. The letter issued by the Executive Engineer -II, Jaynagar Irrigation Division to the Superintendent Engineer, Irrigation and Waterways Department on 16th September, 2019 also indicates that the process of direct purchase of

the land in question has been initiated and the assessment of the land has been made.

The petitioners submitted representations on 15th November, 2018 and 8th March, 2022 before the concerned authority, which have yet to be considered. The petitioners pray for a direction upon the authority to consider the representations at the earliest. It is submitted on behalf of the State respondents that the 1st respondent be directed to consider and dispose of the representations, in accordance with law. In view of the above, the writ petition is disposed of directing the 1st respondent to consider and dispose of the representations submitted by the petitioners on 15th November, 2018 and 8th March, 2022 within three months from the date of communication of this order upon giving a reasonable opportunity of hearing to all the interested persons, including the petitioners, in accordance with law.

The decision taken by the authority shall be communicated to the petitioners within a week thereof. With the above observations the writ petition being WPA 9153 of 2022 is disposed of.

However, there shall be no order as to costs. Since no affidavit is invited, the allegations contained in the petition are deemed not to be admitted.
