In this writ petition, filed as a Public Interest Litigation, the petitioner alleges failure on the part of the police officials to ensure adherence to the Covid protocols by members of the public. The petitioner seeks a direction in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to take disciplinary action against the police officers who failed to act in accordance with law and also seeks enquiry by an independent agency into the allegations against the police officers who failed to act in accordance with law. 2.

Apart from the locus standi of the petitioner to maintain this writ petition being questionable, we find that the petition is devoid of material particulars. The allegations are vague and not substantiated. The motive of the petitioner in filing this writ petition does not appear to be

WPA (P) 171 of 2021 bona fide and the petition appears to be a publicity oriented litigation rather than a Public Interest Litigation. 3.

We are not inclined to entertain this writ petition. This writ petition is, accordingly, dismissed. However, the same will not debar the petitioner to avail of his any other appropriate remedy for the relief prayed for in the petition, if permissible in law.
