Mr. Sukumar Majumder ... for the Petitioner This is an application wherein the petitioner has prayed for a direction upon the court below for expeditious disposal of ACGR no. 3838 of 2016 under Section 498A/406/34 of the Indian Penal Code read with Section 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, presently pending before the learned Judicial Magistrate, 3rd Court, Alipore.

Since the prayer made by the petitioner is innocuous and the opposite parties will have no cause to prejudice if any order is passed in terms of the prayer made by the petitioner, the service of copy of the application upon the opposite parties is dispensed with.

Having heard learned counsel for the petitioner it appears that the case was initiated in the year 2016 and the charge has been framed on 7.8.2025 and the next date is fixed on 17.12.2025 for recording evidence of charge-sheeted witness no. 1 and as such, I find that the prayer made by the petitioner is justified considering the long pendency of the case and as such, it is required to be allowed for the ends of justice . In such view of the matter, CRR 2117 of 2025 is accordingly disposed of with a direction upon the court below to make every endeavour for expeditious disposal of the said proceeding and to

conclude the same preferably within a period of six months from the next date of hearing.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties upon compliance of the all requisite formalities.
