The petitioner no.1 is an Assistant Professor of the subject Philosophy at Samsi College, District : Malda and the petitioner no.2 is an Assistant Professor of the same subject at Bagnan College, District : Howrah.

The petitioners, in terms of Rule 6 of the West Bengal Colleges (Transfer of Employees), Rules, 2017, are praying mutual transfer and on July 21, 2022, have applied as such in the prescribed forms.

The grievance of the petitioners is that their applications have failed to draw the attention of the Director of Public Instruction, Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal, the respondent no.2 herein.

The said applications are pending since 2022; therefore, deserve immediate attention.

The respondent no.2 is directed to consider and dispose of the said applications as expeditiously as possible in accordance with law preferably within a period of eight weeks from the date of communication of this order and the said respondent shall communicate the decision to the petitioners.

Since no affidavit has been invited, the allegations made in the writ petition are deemed to have been denied by the respondents.

WPA 9889 of 2025 is disposed of with the above terms without any order as to costs.

Urgent Photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties subject to compliance with all requisite formalities.
