Commercial quantity of contraband items was recovered from the joint possession of the petitioners. In view of the statutory restriction in Section 37 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, we are not inclined to entertain the petitioners' prayer for bail. However, the petitioners say that there has been no progress in the trial after framing of charge. The petitioners have been in custody for 1 year and 9 months.

Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, we request the learned trial Court to expedite the trial to the extent possible and bring the same to its logical conclusion as soon as the business of the Court may permit and preferably within a period of one year from date.

Accordingly, the application for bail being C.R.M. 4159 of 2021 is dismissed.
