Petitioner is a widow who is being heckled and harassed by her younger son for capturing the residential premises. Petitioner has informed the police authorities and earlier also in respect of an incident, Sutahata PS Case No. 153/2024 has been registered for investigation.

Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner contends that the petitioner has been thrown away from her residence.

Having regard to the fact that the petitioner is a widow who has been thrown out by her son and daughter-in-law and the police report reflects that, police offered to provide necessary protection, however the petitioner did not feel confident on the same. Accordingly, it is directed that the petitioner would by way of informing 24 hours ahead, approach

the Officer-in-Charge, Sutahata Police Station, Purba Medinipur so that she can enter her residential premises.

The Officer-in-Charge will provide police assistance for the petitioner to have a smooth entry. A lady police personnel be deployed who would every alternate day visit the residence, interact with the petitioner for the purposes of ensuring whether any harassment or torture has been inflicted upon her and accordingly submit a report.

If the Officer-in-Charge finds that there has been any torture being inflicted upon the petitioner, steps be taken by the Officer-in-Charge concerned in accordance with law. Such alternate day visit of the lady police personnel will continue for a period of 4 weeks within which the petitioner is directed to approach the appropriate authority under the provisions of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.

Any order passed by the said authority would be implemented by the police authorities.

With the aforesaid observations WPA 10692 of 2024 is disposed of.

Report so submitted be kept with the record.

A copy of the report be handed over to the learned advocate appearing for the petitioner.
