This is an application for quashing of the criminal proceedings being G.R. Case No. 846 of 2020 under Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, pending before the learned Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Bidhannagar, North 24 Parganas. The accused and the defacto complainant have come up before this court with a joint application in view of the settlement of their disputes, and the compromise arrived at, outside the court.

A joint prayer has been made for quashing of the proceedings pending before the learned court below. In view of the judgments delivered by the Supreme Court reported at (2013) 4 SCC 58 (Jitendra Raghuvanshi v. Babita Raghuvanshi), the present criminal proceeding, arising out of the matrimonial disputes, is quashed.

The revisional application being CRR 1372 of 2021 and the application being CRAN 01 of 2021 are disposed of accordingly. (Kausik Chanda, J.)
