Affidavit-of-service filed in Court today by the Counsel for the petitioner be taken on record. The writ petitioner complains that under the Haripal Police Station, no permanent appointment of Muslim Marriage Registrar or Kazi has been made by the State till date. The duties of such Marriage Registrar or Kazi are being discharged by one Syed Md. Sajjad Hossain of Post Office - Furfura Sharif, Police Station - Jangipara, District - Hooghly, who is continuing since the year 2001, appointed on a temporary Ad-Hoc basis.

This is evident from a reply under the Right to Information Act, 2005 given by the concerned Office of the District Registrar, Hooghly.

In the above circumstances, the District Registrar, Hooghly shall take appropriate steps in accordance with law for appointment of a permanent Muslim Marriage Registrar or Kazi as expeditiously as possible.

Let a copy of this order be served on the District Registrar, Hooghly as also Mr. Syed Md. Sajjad Hossain.

With the aforesaid observations, the instant writ application is disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.

All parties are directed to act on a server copy of this order on usual undertakings.
