Learned lawyer for the State opposes the prayer for bail. Having considered materials on record disclosing role of the petitioner as the principal accused in the crime and in view of the gravity of offence and as trial is in progress, we are of the opinion that this is not a fit case to grant bail to the petitioner. Accordingly, the prayer for bail is rejected. However in view of the protracted period of detention suffered by the petitioner, we request the trial court to conclude the trial at an early date preferably within six months from the next date fixed before it for recording evidence without granting unnecessary adjournments to the parties.
